Adequate compaction during construction ensures that roads will be able to withstand the destructive forces of water. Each type of material and each layer of construction needs to be appropriately tested to ensure that it meets the required level of compaction before work can continue. Some test methods are time consuming and/or destructive and WARRIP is reviewing the tests against national and international practices. If more efficient, safe, reliable test methods can be identified, this could significantly assist construction projects across WA.
